2010 NBA MOCK DRAFT (VERSION 1.1)

by DOUG FERGUSON
1) Washington Wizards- John Wall/PG/Kentucky
Seems to be pretty much the consensus so who am I to argue with the masses….
2) Philadelphia 76ers- Evan Turner/SG/Ohio State
Alot of silly trade talk here but they will be just fine with Turner OR Cousins….they should feel extremely lucky to have this pick….
3) New Jersey Nets- Demarcus Cousins/C/Kentucky
If they pass on Cousins and take Favors they should report to the nearest bridge and jump off but it looks like they might….
4) Minnesota Timberwolves- Derrick Favors/PF/Georgia Tech
Kevin Love is one of the hottest names on the trade block so this is the perfect fit….
5) Sacramento Kings- Wes Johnson/SF/Syracuse
He may not slip this far but could be highly overhyped….
6) Golden State Warriors- Al Farouq Aminu/SF/Wake Forest
Fits the Nelly’s prototype wing player perfectly….another tailor made pick….
7) Detroit Pistons- Cole Aldrich/C/Kansas
This pick would seem to be between Aldrich and Monroe but they are more in need of a center than another 4 man…..
Los Angeles Clippers- Epke Udoh/PF/Baylor
There is no evidence to support this pick except that Udoh is the draft’s hottest name so he will likely rise from the mid-first where he is projected now….
9) Utah Jazz- Greg Monroe/PF/Georgetown
Jerry Sloan proceeds to dance a jig in the town square of Salt Lake City…
10) Indiana Pacers- Ed Davis/PF/North Carolina
The Pacers’ refusal to take anyone with even minor character questions really handcuffs them….this isn’t the first time its happened….
11) New Orleans Hornets- Xavier Henry/SG/Kansas
My super sleeper in the top of the draft….Chris Paul will finally have someone dependable to kick to on the wing…..
12) Memphis Grizzlies- Hassaan Whiteside/C/Marshall
Hoping that either he or Thabeet cash in on their full potential….super bonus for them if they both do…..
13) Toronto Raptors- Patrick Patterson/PF/Kentucky
In need of a replacement for Chris Bosh….this is their concession that they won’t even try to get him back…..
14) Houston Rockets- James Anderson/SG/Oklahoma State
Shooting guard as well as scoring are needs for the Rockets so this works….
15) Milwaukee Bucks- Dontas Motiejunas/SF/Lithuania
Outstanding value as Dontas would be the draft’s biggest slip if he falls from the lottery….Milwaukee also always has eyes for the Euro combo forward….
16) Minnesota Timberwolves- Avery Bradley/SG/Texas
Talk about hooking some potential oozing from their ears….Favors and Bradley could have 2 of the draft’s highest upsides….
17) Chicago Bulls- Daniel Orton/C/Kentucky
Taking a flyer here on the Bulls’ reported interest in Calipari….this would officially start the last stage of LebronMania….
18) Miami Heat- Luke Babbitt/SF/Nevada
The Heat need major help on the wing whether Dwyane Wade stays or not…..
19) Boston Celtics- Gordon Hayward/SF/Butler
Still looking for the next Larry Bird 30 years later I give you the Boston Celtics….but this pick makes sense too as they try to find eventual replacements for their aging stars….
20) San Antonio Spurs- Elliot Williams/SG/Memphis
His good character and similarity to Manu makes him a good fit here….
21) Oklahoma City Thunder- Solomon Alabi/C/Florida State
It has been said that all OKC needs is a presence inside….well here it is congratulations members of the Thunder bandwagon….
22) Portland Trail Blazers- Larry Sanders/PF/VCU
Looking for triple stampsies on their inside post man insurance….
23) Minnesota Timberwolves- Damion James/PF/Texas
The Timberwolves now look at strictly combo forwards with all 354 of their remaining picks…..
24) Atlanta Hawks- Willie Warren/SG/Oklahoma
A big part of this year’s draft is going to be teams insuring huge parts of their team that could potentially leave via free agency….Defense Exhibit A….
25) Memphis Grizzlies- Devin Ebanks/SF/West Virginia
Defense Exhibit B as Rudy Gay is possibly gone from the Grizz….
26) Oklahoma City Thunder- Gani Lawal/PF/Georgia Tech
Keep bringing the beef to the cattle ranch in Oklahoma City……
27) New Jersey Nets- Alexsey Shved/SG/Russia
It is also hard to believe that teams with their head’s in the clouds for a big name free agent won’t try to save some bread by drafting abroad if they aren’t sure……
28) Memphis Grizzlies- Eric Bledsoe/PG/Kentucky
Mike Conley is in the Memphis dog house and Bledsoe is one of the best PG’s out there….good value at this pick…..
29) Orlando Magic- Jarvis Varnado/C/Mississippi State
Outstanding backup for the often foul-strapped Dwight Howard…..
30) Washington Wizards- Nemanja Bjelica/SF/Serbia
This pick becomes a foreign player for sure if the Wizards somehow find a way unload Gilbert Arenas….They now have some free agent clout with the first pick now they just have to dump some garbage salary….

EARLY SEASON 2010 NBA MOCK DRAFT

by DOUG FERGUSON
Hello and welcome to the first mock draft of the year. I would like to remind people that I am almost never wrong in scouting the draft. You could say that I tell the truth, even when I lie. I did my own personal lottery since we all know the worst team never gets the first pick. The question then becomes, if Minnesota gets the first pick do they take ANOTHER point guard with John Wall? We shall see!!!!!
1. T-Wolves- John Wall/PG/Kentucky/6-4/FR
If Minnesota is serious that they are going to take the best player at any position if they are “special” then this will be the time that proves it….
2. Nets- Dontas Montejunas/PF/Benetton Treviso/7-0/1990
I think the Nets are getting lucky to have a pick this high because they are not as bad as their record indicates…..
NBA 2010 DRAFT MOCK LOTTERY

One of the main features we will have at NBE’s Association Report is the best NBA Draft analysis you will find anywhere on the internet and beyond. Unlike many mock drafts I will not be using the same draft order of 2009. This would concede that the NBA season will play out exactly as it did last season which we all know is not true. Therefore I will be using my preseason predictions as a basis for what the draft order will be. Furthermore, I have conducted my own mock lottery to make the mock process as real as possible. I have also included all trades that are applicable to the 2010 draft. So draft junkies get ready for the lottery as we only have 250 days left until the big day!!!!!!
1) Los Angeles Clippers- John Wall/PG/Kentucky/6-4/200/FR
If the Clippers win the lottery 2 years in a row they will have 2 giant pieces to the puzzle for the future as they would get the consensus top rated player 2 drafts in a row.
2) Washington Wizards- Derrick Favors/PF/Georgia Tech/6-9/250/FR
The Wizards have been longing for a force in the paint for a decade and now they have the chance to get one to complement their plethora of perimeter talent.
3) Houston Rockets- Willie Warren/CG/Oklahoma/6-4/210/SO
Yao Ming missing the whole season gives Houston a chance to pick high in the lottery giving them a chance to finally part ways with Tracy McGrady by replacing him with another explosive scorer at the guard spot.
4) Milwaukee Bucks- Al-Farouq Aminu/SF/Wake Forest/6-8/218/SO
Wanting to go with the top foreign player in this spot, the Bucks have nightmarish flashbacks of Yi and look to trade. If they can’t pull it off they go with the best available athlete in Aminu
5) Sacramento Kings- Dontas Montejunas/PF/Lithuania/7-0/226
The Kings look to add more offensive weapons in their search to rebuild. Sacramento is looking to leave room in their cap for 2010 free agents as Montajunas may play overseas for another season.
6) Oklahoma City Thunder- Demarcus Cousins/PF/Kentucky/FR/6-11/260
A talented young perimeter team looks to gain a post bruiser with the ability to become a skilled scorer in the post with time.
7) Minnesota Timberwolves- John Henson/CF/North Carolina/FR/6-10/190
Another multiple pick first round allows Minnesota to make a lottery pick based on potential, something which Henson may have more of than any player in the draft.
8] Indiana Pacers- Cole Aldrich/C/Kansas/JR/6-11/245
Aldrich is a favorite for many college Player of the Year awards and Larry Bird has a history of preferring proven college players over potential. It could also finally usher out the Jeff Foster era in Indy
9) New Jersey Nets- Ed Davis/PF/North Carolina/SO/6-10/225
Another team that has been trying to bolster their inside talent for upwards of a decade now has 2 talented young players pushing 7 foot tall to complement a very talented young backcourt.
10) Utah Jazz- Evan Turner/SF/Ohio State/JR/6-6/205
Buckeye fans would love to see Turner return for his senior year to make a title run with the country’s #1 recruiting class but the Jazz would love to finally get a worthy backcourt mate for Deron Williams.
11) Detroit Pistons- Solomon Alabi/C/Florida State/SO/7-1/260
Alabi gives the Pistons a middle presence to complement the offensive weapons they accquired this summer in free agency.
12) New Jersey Nets- Greg Monroe/C/Georgetown/SO/6-10/240
The Nets go from being fairly thin in the middle to one of the beefier teams in the East in a matter of 15 minutes by picking up a big man with some outside skill in Monroe.
13) Atlanta Hawks- Devin Ebanks/SF/West Virginia/SO/6-8/205
The Big East dominated the lottery in 2009 but doesn’t taste ping pong balls until the last possible moments in 2010 with back to back picks as the Hawks get a steal at 13 with the uber-athletic forward from Mountaineer country.
14) Golden State Warriors- Craig Brackins/CF/Iowa State/JR/6-10/230
Don Nelson and company has a pension for the big, do-it-all forward and Brackins is “that guy”. They worry about having enough minutes to go around when the time comes.
