Hello and welcome to the first mock draft of the year. I would like to remind people that I am almost never wrong in scouting the draft. You could say that I tell the truth, even when I lie. I did my own personal lottery since we all know the worst team never gets the first pick. The question then becomes, if Minnesota gets the first pick do they take ANOTHER point guard with John Wall? We shall see!!!!!
1. T-Wolves- John Wall/PG/Kentucky/6-4/FR
If Minnesota is serious that they are going to take the best player at any position if they are “special” then this will be the time that proves it….
2. Nets- Dontas Montejunas/PF/Benetton Treviso/7-0/1990
I think the Nets are getting lucky to have a pick this high because they are not as bad as their record indicates…..
3. Wizards- DeMarcus Cousins/PF/Kentucky/6-11/FR
My predictions of how awesome Cousins is are already panning out at UK….Remember where you heard it first….
4. Jazz- Evan Turner/SF/Ohio State/6-6/JR
Nobody’s draft stock has been helped more by outstanding early season play than Evan Turner…Fits Sloan’s style as he is a great defender and all-around player….
5. Pistons- Derrick Favors/PF/Georgia Tech/6-9/FR
Pistons need to rebuild their frontcourt and this is the perfect place to start….
6. Warriors- Al-Farouq Aminu/SF/Wake Forest/6-9/SO
Don Nelson loves guys who can get up and down the floor and this is a perfect place to start….
7. Sixers- Cole Aldrich/C/Kansas/6-11/JR
Philly has to be sick of starting Sam Dalembert every year and hence not getting anything from the center position…
8. Grizzlies- Patrick Patterson/6-9/SR
Memphis needs one more frontcourt piece as they won’t be able to count on consistency from Zach Randolph forever….
9. Raptors- Ed Davis/PF/North Carolina/6-10/SO
The probable departure of Chris Bosh combined with the fact Andrea Bargnani is not a shot blocker makes Davis a good pick…..
10. Pacers- Xavier Henry/SG/Kansas/6-6/FR
Pacers need not only another scorer but someone who can get his own shot…Henry is already strong enough to get his own at th NBA level….
11. Hornets- Willie Warren/SG/Oklahoma/6-4/SO
The Hornets have been missing wing scoring for quite sometime…The fact that Warren is the definition of tweener makes him slip slightly….
12. Clippers- Jan Vesley/SF/Partizan Belgrade/6-11/1990
Vesley is going to be the fastest riser on the board when its all said and done, PERIOD….
13. Kings- Craig Brackins/PF/Iowa State/6-10/JR
Talented in the backcourt, now the Kings have to start to work things out up front…..
14. Thunder- Greg Monroe/PF/Georgetown/6-10/SO
Fits into the style of play they are trying to incorporate in OKC, unselfish and versatile….
15. Bulls- Devin Ebanks/SF/West Virginia/6-9/SO
Being a lifetime Bulls fan I would be ecstatic if Ebanks slipped again…being a tweener also hurts him….
16. T-Wolves- Wesley Johnson/SF/Syracuse/6-7/JR
Jim Boeheim wasn’t lying when he hyped Johnson as the second coming at the Carrier Dome…..
17. Rockets- Tyler Smith/SF/Tennessee/6-7/SR
The Rockets are a team that seems to not mind having an undersized forward which is Smith’s biggest knock…..actually they seem to prefer it…
18. Bucks- Gani Lawal/PF/Georgia Tech/6-9/JR
The Bucks sadly have had the best rookie performance in years and they are still far away…..
19. Heat- Sherron Collins/PG/Kansas/5-11/SR
College teamates reunite in Miami and fight each other for playing time in a deja vu type situation…
20. T-Wolves- Stanley Robinson/SF/Connecticut/6-8/SR
Minnesota can actually fill a need at small forward with this pick and Robinson would also be the best player on the board so they would save face too…..
21. Spurs- James Anderson/SG/Oklahoma State/6-6/JR
Perfect fit as the big shooting guard who can shoot to replace an already 3 years past being old Michael Finley….
22. Blazers- Kemba Walker/PG/Connecticut/5-11/SO
Steve Blake should not be starting for any NBA team I don’t care what anyone says….
23. Nets- Lance Stephenson/SG/Cincinnati/6-5/FR
Just in time for the Nets move to the city, they send home a player who has superstar potential…..
24. Hawks- Jarvis Varnado/PF/Mississippi State/6-10/SR
It seems like everyone needs defensive help inside….here is the ultimate answer to that problem….
25. Grizzlies- Chris Wright/SF/Dayton/6-7/JR
Memphis has had a problem getting any scoring off the bench whatsoever and this is a start….
26. Cavs- Jerome Jordan/C/Tulsa/7-0/SR
This is Shaq’s last year before he saves ESPN’s studio show and Big Z will be gone soon too….
27. Celtics- Alexey Shved/SG/CSKA Moscow/6-6/1988
Its come to my attention that the Celtics are going to go back to being really super bad when the Big 3 hit the wall…..
28. Magic- Terrico White/SG/Mississippi/6-5/SO
Super talent can eventually replace Vince Carter on the wing but he will need some time to develop….
29. Grizzlies- Elliot Williams/SG/Memphis/6-4/SO
Williams is going to put up outstanding numbers and possibly be the C-USA player of the year…Outstanding defender and is a good tweener….
30. Thunder- John Henson/PF/North Carolina/6-10/FR
If Henson were to come out he would be a great value at this point as he would be a for sure lottery pick in the next few years…..
